Salon Stories
What’s happening in salons?
Here are some real stories!

Our Stylist interview this month is with Maité Lopez, a very successful
stylist in the Newbury street salon "Bradley & Diegal".
Question: How long have you been a stylist Maité?
Maité: I have worked as a stylist on
Newbury Street for 12 years now.
Question: Where do you get your inspiration from?
Maité: I have a deep love for fashion and design and I always have.
To be honest, I get a lot of my inspiration as far as hairdressing by
watching “E” Entertainment. I am obsessed with the stylists, celebrity
styles and all of the fashion that you see. I also get inspiration from
my own personal style. I love nature and fashion and love to blend them
together in my work.
Question: Who have you been influenced by in your career?
Maité: I have had many different mentors in my career but I would say
that the person that made the most impact with me was Janet Waddell.
She taught me the Vidal Sassoon approach. She taught me bone structure,
face shape along with great cutting techniques.
Question: Maite, how many clients do you see each week?
Maité: I see an average of 50 clients per week.
Question: How many of your clients each week do some type of color service?
Maité: I currently color 50% of my clients each week.
Question: In your opinion, what makes one stylist more successful than
another?
Maité: Passion and love for the industry. Humility.
Continued education.
Question: What education have you attended that has really made a difference?
Maité: Hair Color Certification, Vidal Sassoon, Bumble & Bumble. I
have to say that Color Certification unchained me. It allowed me the confidence
to elevate my color work to levels I am very proud of. I no longer try to
mimic what I have learned in classes. I understand exactly how color works
and it has allowed me to take my creativity to another level. I feel that
it has made me a leader, not a follower when it comes to hair color. Much
thanks to Lisa Kelley who taught the class!
Question: What hair color line do you use?
Maité: Jingles International
Question: Why?
Maité: It is color in its purest form. There are no lies when it comes
to Jingles
Question: What are your favorite products?
Maité: Tri Primer Shampoo, Tri Hydrating and Color Protect Conditioner,
and I love SOMA Prism Spray Shine.
Thanks to Maité for taking the time for our 1st stylist interview. Maité
epitomizes the professional stylist. She works hard and with passion. She
is successful and loves this industry. Watch for future interviews with
other successful stylists.
